Last year, New Rep sadly said goodbye to Joan Parker, former five-year-member of our Board of Directors, who continued her support by joining the Advisory Council. Joan strongly felt that New Rep’s programming gave young people the opportunity to experience what she called “the transformative power of theatre.”
Our inaugural Next Rep Black Box Festival is dedicated to Joan and demonstrates the kind of theatre she was passionate about.
OUR LADY
Written and performed by James Fluhr
APR 3 - 27/2014
Black Box Theater
80 minutes without intermission.
Fresh off huge success in the New York Fringe Festival, this dynamic, gutsy one-person performance piece exposes James Fluhr’s stunning surprises through his own coming out as a gay man. The piece was created in response to toxic homophobia responsible for many gay suicides.
This performance contains adult themes, strong language, loud noises, and the use of strobe lights and haze.
“It’s passionate, inventive and deeply personal.”
