[February 22, 2022] New Rep announces a call for 20- minute scripts elevating voices that often go unheard. Three scripts will be produced in a new theatre festival this spring/summer, as part of New Rep’s relaunch.
With this call for scripts, New Rep is re-imagining how the theatre can best serve both the artists and the audience. As the world is changing, theatre must also be different going forward. New Rep is looking for scripts that can be staged creatively, in unconventional indoor or outdoor spaces at New Rep’s resident space, the Mosesian Center for the Arts, expanding the boundaries of the stage.
New Rep’s vision has evolved in response to the pandemic and to societal upheaval that is raising awareness of systemic and widespread inequity. Playwrights from underrepresented communities or groups will be given priority, as well as playwrights currently based in New England.
Playwrights will be paid a stipend for the use of their play in this festival.
[April 4, 2022] Our March submission period has ended and our new drama committee is reading and reviewing all plays. We want to thank everyone who submitted a script for consideration. The selected plays will be announced later in April.
