New Repertory Theatre offers Internship opportunities in the following areas:
- General Administration
- Box Office
- Marketing/PR
- Development
- Artistic (casting, directing, script reading)
- Production (lighting, costumes, sound, crew)
New Rep’s goal is to tailor its internships to fit both the interests of the intern and the needs of the theatre, and we talk individually with each intern applicant to determine the best placement for them within the organization. As such, our interns often work with more than one department and are generally able to choose a schedule that works best for them. Interns work directly with New Rep’s professional staff, as well as with all of the actors, directors, and designers for our productions. New Rep also offers a convenient location in Watertown, which is easily accessible by car and bus.
The time frame for internships is usually Fall semester, Spring semester, the full academic year, or summer, though start and end dates can be flexible. Internships are unpaid, but credit may be available. We accept High School, College, and Graduate level interns.
Recent interns have come from: Bentley College, Boston University, Ithaca College, Emerson College, Brandeis University, University of Hartford, Connecticut College, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Newton South High School, EF Education, and Emmanuel College.
