NEW REP ANNOUNCES THE WINNER OF THE "DEAR MR. SCROOGE" CONTEST
December 23 , 2008

Kids of all ages were asked to write a letter to Mr. Scrooge letting him know why they would like to see Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol this holiday season: perhaps they enjoy the pre-show caroling concert; maybe it is the thrill of seeing ghosts that fly through the air and evaporate into the London Fog; or they could be continuing or starting a family tradition. The writers of these letters became eligible to win two free tickets to Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, as well as meet Paul D. Farwell (Ebenezer Scrooge) and have their photo taken with him.

After receiving and reading several creative and festive letters, Scrooge chose a winning letter.  It was written by Susan Carp Nesson of Newton, MA.  Susan wrote:

Dear Scrooge,

Your heart was closed as was your purse-
Your selfish ways they were a curse.
Yet, someone felt you'd be redeemed
and with some help, your goodness beamed.
To see you change was such a treat -
Oh, won't you share with us a seat?
T'would make this season much less dim
to be with you and Tiny Tim.
Please, sir, do find it in your heart -
2 theatre tickets to impart...

Thank you, Scrooge!  Best wishes for a joyous holiday season!

Susan used her two winning tickets to take her husband, Dan, and daughter, Emma, to see Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on Saturday, December 20th at 8:00pm.   Prior to the performance, all three meet with Mr. Farwell, asked him questions about playing Scrooge, and shared with him their memories of seeing him in last year's production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It certainly seems like Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has become a tradition for this winning family!
