Of Mice and Men

By John Steinbeck

March 3-April 3, 2009

“Some day we’re gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres…”  -George

John Steinbeck’s 1937 classic tale introduced the world to two wanderers, realistic George and simple-minded Lennie, who walk the highways of California looking for jobs to make ends meet.  With the Great Depression all around them, it is their dream of one day having their own farm that keeps them drifting from town to town. But that dream is lost when Lennie unknowingly jeopardizes everything they’ve worked towards.

What teachers and students are saying about New Rep On Tour:

"Having [New Rep On Tour] visit our school was a nice alternative to our going to the theatre-it allowed us to hold morning classes so that students didn’t have to miss a full day-so important with MCAS on our minds."
-High School teacher about The Diary of Anne Frank

"Your play has opened my eyes to look beyond words and understand the play."
-7th grade student about Hamlet
