NEW REPERTORY THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2009-2010 SEASON New Artistic Director Kate Warner Debuts First Season at Theatre
February 26, 2009

New Repertory Theatre announces its 2009-2010 season, the inaugural season for new Artistic Director Kate Warner.  The new season will present five plays on its Mainstage in the Charles Mosesian Theater; two plays in its Downstage @ New Rep series in the Black Box Theater; and two holiday offerings.

"I am thrilled to announce New Repertory Theatre's 26th season," says Ms. Warner. "In this challenging world, I am drawn to plays where the characters face a search for purpose -- a theme that resonates with everyone as we cope with these trying times.  I believe that stories about rediscovering purpose will be more relevant than ever before."
Ms. Warner adds, "In New Rep's next season on the Mainstage, our audience will, meet a WWII Naval Officer, Mister Roberts, who wants to make a difference in a war that will change the nation; debate artistic verses commercial success in Speed-the-Plow; explore what 'happily ever after' means in the comedy Indulgences; meet five musicians whose artistic drive overrides their personal relationships in Opus; and in Hot Mikado find duty and purpose with a twist of swing."

"Downstage @ New Rep in our Black Box Theater, we will be producing one of my all time favorites, 2.5 Minute Ride, and the cutting-edge comedy boom," said Ms. Warner. This intimate 90-seat theater offers theatergoers the chance to see plays that are up close and on the edge."

In 2009-2010, New Rep will continue its holiday traditions with Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, co-produced with Arsenal Arts and Watertown Children's Theatre, on the Mainstage in the Charles Mosesian Theater, and The Santaland Diaries in the Black Box Theater.

New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is the third largest theatre in the Greater Boston area.  It presents world premieres, contemporary, and classic works in intimate settings. For additional information about the 2009-2010 Season, click here.
